This is such a heart-warming story of a police officer going the extra mile to help an autistic child and his mother.
We know from research on biases that our first instinct is to judge others, this makes ourselves feel better while casting blame. What this police office did though was reserve judgment; he showed empathy which allowed him to diffuse a very difficult situation in a timely way.
When you see someone having a terrible day remember that the easy thing is to judge them and walk the other way. The right thing though is to try to figure out why it is they are struggling to think of how you can be the person to help.
